Expearls is a community-powered travel platform for exploring Sri Lanka. Users can discover places, check in, earn points and badges, follow curated trails, and contribute their own local knowledge to help others explore the island authentically.
You earn points by checking in at places (with optional photo proof for bonus points), adding new places, writing reviews, completing trails, and finishing challenges. Badges are unlocked automatically when you hit milestones — like visiting 5 places or completing your first trail.
Yes — Expearls is completely free to join and use. Discovering places, checking in, earning rewards, and browsing trails all cost nothing. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but the core experience will always be free.
After logging in, click "Add Place" from the navigation. Fill in the name, description, location coordinates, category, and an optional photo. Your submission goes to our review team and, once approved, earns you 50 points and appears publicly on the platform.
A Trail is a curated collection of places linked into a journey — like "Colombo City Walk" or "Hill Country Waterfalls". When you check in at every place on a trail, you complete it and earn a bonus reward. Anyone can create and share their own trails.
Check-ins have three trust tiers — Unverified, Likely Verified, and Verified. Uploading a photo and sharing your GPS location at the time of check-in increases your trust score and earns bonus points. Our system also detects reused photos to keep things fair.
Yes. You can request account deletion at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We'll remove your personal data within 30 days, though some anonymised content may be retained as required by our policies.
If you spot an error on a place listing or a review that violates our community guidelines, email us at [email protected] with the place name and details. Our moderation team reviews all reports promptly.
We take privacy seriously. We do not sell your data to third parties, do not use commercial tracking cookies, and you control what is publicly visible on your profile (location, email, phone). See our full Privacy Policy below for details.

1. Use of the App
Expearls is a platform for discovering and sharing places. Users can register accounts, submit content, check in at locations, and participate in community challenges.
2. User Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Expearls. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and agree not to impersonate others or use the platform for illegal or abusive activities.
3. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of your content, but grant Expearls a license to use, display, and distribute it as part of the service. You must not upload harmful, illegal, or offensive content.
4. Moderation
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate our guidelines or these Terms.
5. Intellectual Property
All site content and code (excluding user content) is the intellectual property of Expearls. You may not reproduce or repurpose it without permission.
6. Disclaimer
The App is provided "as is" without warranties. While we strive for accuracy, we are not liable for errors, loss of data, or service interruptions.
